Review in English is given after review in Marathi.

Review in English

Author Smieeta is working in IT industry and in this book she presents us a bouquet of "personalities" in IT. These are not the legends in IT industry but these are the ones who linger in our mind forever. We all have colleagues and friends of different natures. Some work day in day out, some wont even complete 9 hours, some focus on work, some focus on everything but work, some die for onsite, some treat the career like extra curricular activity. The IT company in this book is no exception. Through series of events, she introduces use to different employees of this company and their interactions.

e.g. See what she tells us about a duo, a very close to manager

e.g. How a manager repatriated to India after being in US for few years shows off

The events in this book are not very different than the ones which we see or hear everyday. Her style of narration is like a serious essay where she explains the traits of the character and then the event follow. So we can sometimes foresee the plot which is bit disappointing. Presentation style should have been subtler and oriented towards feelings of characters. She doesn't peel of the surface layer of these human onions.

Though book is divided into different chapters they are not completely independent stories. The way she has smoothly transitions from one chapter to other, from one incidence to other is commendable. The flow is maintained very well. The language is simple Indian English; but not Hinglish.

Those who are not working in IT may not enjoy the book a lot; but for IT folks, it will remind them their own experiences, friends, colleagues. They will be able to relate it more.

Few days ago I had read LOSER-Life of software engineer (लूजर - लाईफ ऑफ सॉफ्टवेअर इंजिनियर) - Dipen ambalia (दिपेन अंबालिया) I had liked that very much. It is heartening to see that IT folks ("IT wala" in Hinglish ) are writing about life in IT.
In literature, we have different sections like the war stories, stories of downtrodden, feminist literature, stories of middle class, those portraying life of peasants etc. In that list now adds the books portraying life of IT industry. This is a welcome move.

It was pleasant surprise for me when Smieeta asked if I would like to read and review this book. I treat it as appreciation for my review writing endeavour and thank her for this gesture.

I think those working IT should read this book and encourage our fellow on her writing journey. I wish her all the best.
